The idea for DISCOURSE was born out of a desire for a dialogue between the students of the Heritage Studies department, other faculties of the university and the wider heritage community all over the world. It was created by the students of BTU Cottbus, and is open to anyone interested. The magazine aims to be an open and inclusive space to explore important themes in the heritage studies field.
The articles and other work published in the magazine are contributions form independent authors, students, artists and professionals in the field, from all over the world. Important Information for Authors
The Magazine
This is a non-profit, student-run, completely voluntary magazine run by students of BTU Cottbus. It is an open platform; you need not be affiliated with the university in order to have something published in the magazine.
The Editorial Process
All submitted work is reviewed and proofed by our editaorial department. Final say on any edits made by the team rest with the original author, but the editorial team reserves the right to publish the articles in the corresponding issue.
Timeline
The magazine aims for a bi-annual format, with one issue each released in summer and in winter. Dates are subject to change. The entry period for submitting your work remains active for a period of 2-3 months. Our team members will be in touch with contributing authors through the entire timeline. We aim to keep our process as transparent as possible.
Submitting Works to the Magazine
All submitted works are reviewed only during the entry period. Authors can fill up a submission form and email a copy of their work to discourseheritagemag@gmail.com. Please note that the Submission Form is active only during the entry period. Articles, photo essays and other media related to global heritage, culture and history are accepted for publication. Academic projects or theses in a condensed form are also accepted.
Please note: All published content generated, written or created by the authors is the sole responsibility of the respective authors. DISCOURSE, its founders or editors are not responsible for any copyright issues that may arise due to incorrectly credited information, images or videos, or lack thereof.
Number of Works Published Per Issue
We aim to publish up to 15 pieces per issue, however this number is not fixed and is subject to change, depending on the number and nature of works submitted. That being said, we try and publish ALL submitted works in the current issue or the next. PLEASE NOTE that works found to be plagiarized or composed around themes unrelated to culture or heritage will not be published.
